She is the first child of İshak Alaton, the businessperson and the founder of Alarko, and the sister of Vedat Alaton. She attended primary school in Şişli Terakki, secondary school in Saint Pulcheire, and high school in Notre Dame de Sion. She then studied business administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed her master's degree in Social Sciences at New York University. She founded the Megatrend Public Relations Consultancy Company in 1993. She provided consultancy to world giants such as Aérospatiale Alcatel. She was chosen as the "Businesswoman of the Year" in 1992 by the Turkish National Productivity Centre and as the “Global Leader of Tomorrow” at the Davos World Economic Forum in 1993. Carrying out the duties of Board Member at Alarko Holding A.Ş. and Chairperson of the Board at Alvimedica Tıbbi Ürünler San. ve Dış Tic. A.Ş., Leyla Alaton was awarded Légion d'Honneur, the highest French order of merit, in 2014 due to her contributions to Turkish-French relations. She is among the founders of GYIAD and KAGIDER and a member of the advisory board of Contemporary Art associations of Darüşşafaka Educational Institutions.
